Yeah, KD is very dedicated to basketball.  His whole life has been all about basketball.  He had travelled around the country so he could play basketball.  However, he has significant link to the OKC local community (owns a local restaurant and donated large money to local community) and he might be more inclined to stay in OKC if they promised to add more outside shooting capabilities to the team next year to improve their chance of winning a championship.  If KD decides to leave OKC, then GSW is indeed a front runner in landing him, why?  Ironically, it's because GSW have just lost their championship run!  If GSW had won their 2nd championship, then the self esteem of KD would not allow him to join the GSW (why join a team that can win the championship all by themselves?), but since they failed now, they would need help from KD!  Joe Lacob has implied that he is willing to part with any player (except Curry, Green & Thompson) to get KD!

KD is a very popular free agent not only because of his plays, but also because of his mellow personality and team player attitude.  If all he wants is money, the Thunder can offer higher & longer contract than any other team (5 yrs vs. 4 yrs) and he can work out a deal so that he first signs with the Thunder and then be traded to the other team.  That way, he can get max contract & the Thunder can get something in return.  However, I don't think a trade will happen that way....

Now that the Thunder sends Serge Ibaka to the Orlando Magic for Victor Oladipo, Ersan Ilyasova and the draft rights to Domantas Sabonis, that should improve the back court (though Oladipo doesn't shoot 3's well) while still keeping a strong front court (though shot blocking capability will be reduced).  Not a bad move.  Also in case KD leaves, the Thunder still have player for his position. That means some of the existing big players (or even Dion Waiters) will be gone next season too.
